心得:
I have always had a passion for English, but I’ve never been outside of Taiwan or to any English-speaking countries. The main reason I came to Taichung Merica was that I didn’t pass my Intermediate-High General English Proficiency Test (GEPT). I was devastated and stressed out after I received my low GEPT scores; however, my mom didn’t give up on my English. She asked some of her friends and colleagues for recommendations on where I could improve my writing and speaking skills. After following the advice of her friends, she chose Merica as the place for me to improve my English. I’m glad she did.
I met the two teachers there to whom I am most grateful for helping me improve my English. These two amazing teachers are 魔羯老師 and Scott Anibal. 魔羯老師 helped me out particularly with my writing, and Scott helped most with my speaking. It used to be extremely difficult for me to organize my thoughts properly and logically on paper. 魔羯老師 helped me with this task a lot. He taught in great detail about how we can logically and masterfully list the main points in our essays. He not only helped me in my writing skills for the GEPT, but he also taught me excellent methods on how to easily write a wide variety of essays in impressive ways. He was also great at spotting where my weaknesses were and how I could best improve them. On the other hand, Scott taught me how to effectively organize my thoughts and express what I want to say in a reasonable, natural, way. He also provided a lot of useful test questions in order to help get me ready for the GEPT and the many other tests that lay ahead of me. He even helped me with my listening!
With the help of魔羯老師, Scott, and other teachers, I have obtained a full score of 100 on the Speaking Part for the GEPT. All in all, I had initially come only to improve my chance of passing the GEPT, but am still learning every time when I come to Taichung Merica.
